Welcome to Peconic

PECONIC, which means “small place”, is a scenic North Fork hamlet located between Southold and Cutchogue. Peconic’s beautiful farmland, vineyards, beaches and creeks provide outdoor pleasure for all seasons. Peconic is home to one of Southold Town’s largest park which includes baseball fields, tennis courts, roller hockey rink and open fields. On Summer evenings you can bring a chair and enjoy the North Fork’s college league baseball games free of charge, our answer to the Cape Cod League!
The beach enjoyed by the young at heart is Goldsmith’s Inlet. This unique beach, where a creek and the Long Island Sound meet, can create hours of fun riding a tube when the tide rushes out to the Sound.

Peconic is home to the town’s Recreation Center on Peconic Lane. Residents use the Southold Library which has many classes in addition to ongoing events at the Recreation Center.

Peconic is part of the Southold School District. The elementary, middle and senior high school are all on the same campus located on Oaklawn Avenue in Southold.
