Welcome to Riverhead

RIVERHEAD is at the westernmost point on the North Fork. The mouth of the Peconic River starts in this town, as the name signifies. Riverhead was established in 1792 and has continued to grow since then. It is the home of The Long Island Blues Festival and the Polish Festival. There are many other family oriented sites and activities including golf, mini golf, a world class aquarium and outlet shopping mall. Riverhead’s downtown offers a scenic river walk along the Peconic River. Alfresco dining and public docking make for a grand day’s outing. Riverhead town beaches and parks include Iron Pier, Reeves Park and Jamesport Beach. Indian Island, a Suffolk County Park, is also nearby.
Riverhead is also the County Center. Baiting Hollow, Calverton, Aquebogue, Jamesport and South Jamesport are all within Riverhead Town.
